Buckeye Lures was founded in the year 2000 by father and son Roy and Jeremy Altman. The early years were spent hand pouring lead headed jigs and sonar blades to stock some of the local tackle shops in the area surrounding Clark Hill Lake. In 2001 Roy Altman began retirement plans by fishing co-angler on the FLW tour and fulfilling a lifelong dream to fish national tournaments. While fishing with a pro during the Beaver Lake tournament he noticed a need for a stand up jighead to be used with all soft plastics. After doing some minor tooling the Spot Remover was born. In 2012, Brandon Greba spent most Thursday nights building cornhole boards in his garage, filling orders whenever he could find some time away from his nine-to-five gig as an industrial supply sales manager. In July 2013, with the support of his family, Greba quit his job, hired a couple part time employees and took the plunge. Working hard, Greba purchased top-of-the-line equipment purchases, including a UV Flatbed Printer and CNC Routers, and has expanded his range of products to feature LED lights and Bluetooth speaker boards, and a wide variety of tailgate games. If a rush order comes in the door, West Georgia Cornhole is now capable of designing, building and shipping in six hours. He’s also made a name for himself; Greba’s competitive advantage landed him a custom rush order for NBA MVP and Golden State Warrior Stephen Curry.
Located in Bogart, GA, the Zoom Bait Company is a true American success story, rising from one man’s vision and elbow grease to become the worldwide leader in soft plastic lures. Ed Chambers proved that necessity truly is the mother of invention in the fishing industry – when he couldn’t find the worm styles that he needed, the Georgia gaming machine salesman used a trolling motor in a 55 gallon drum to mix up the plastic to mold lures that would do a better job. That was 1977. In the nearly four decades since that relatively inauspicious beginning, Zoom’s attention to detail and innovative nature has allowed the company to grow. Now, instead of a 55 gallon drum, there’s a 40,000 square foot facility with state of the art equipment manned by over 100 full-time employees, producing countless styles of lures in over 300 distinct color patterns in the distinctive red packaging.
